There's yet another threat of a powerful derecho storm that could turn my block into a disaster area. This must be the third of fourth such threat for my area, yet three months ago I didn't even know what a derecho was!
So far, we've been lucky - no blackouts - but again, this time could be different. Sorry if I sound like I'm crying wolf here, but when Janice Huff (the local weatherwoman on my local NBC station) tells us that we're getting a powerful summer storm and uses scary language to drive the point home, I kind of get antsy.
Hopefully, this latest threat will pass without incident. So until then (and hopefully after), I'll keep commenting on the Olympics and pretending to be Bob Costas.
