Mitt Romney has shown an incredible knack for making indelible impressions with foreigners on their own turf, all of them bad. Hot on the heels of his Olympian indignities in Great Britain, he appeared in Israel and appeared at a fundraiser (he certainly has a lot of fundraisers abroad!) at the King David Hotel and attributed the fact that Israel's gross domestic product is twice the size of of that of the Palestinian territories to a superior work ethic in harsh conditions that is emblematic of the culture of the Israeli nation. "Culture makes all the difference," he concluded.
Of course, I could point out that it's pretty hard for the Palestinians to get their GDP up to a respectable level when they've been under Israeli occupation for - oh, I don't know, 45 years! - but the Palestinians already did so. And in terminology much harsher than mine.
I know that the United Nations declared Zionism to be racism, but no one has demonstrated it better than Romney, disparaging an entire people as being deficient in their faith and in their belief in the dignity of work. And it was also interesting how he described Israel as a land of business and of faith in God.
Sounds like he's talking about a particular U.S. state, doesn't it? Here's a clue of which state it is - it's in the middle of nowhere.
Oh yeah, Romney also cited similar economic disparities that exist between neighboring countries, like the United States and . . . Mexico. Thus he managed to offend the Mexicans on a world tour without having even set foot there. Good work, Mitt!

The gap between Israeli and Palestinian GDP is ten to one, not two to one. Mitt couldn't even get that right!
