Dirty Deeds Undone Dirt Cheap

Blanche Lincoln may have planted her flag of victory on Bill Halter's sorry rump in Arkansas (more on that later), but not all the news from efforts to make America a better place is bad.
This afternoon, the Senate voted 53-47 to reject the bill sponsored by Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) that would have stripped the Environmental Protection Agency of its authority to regulate carbon pollution to combat global warming. This vote shows that a majority of the U.S. Senate realizes that something has to be done about global warming. Even if it had passed, President Obama had promised to veto it, but the fact that Murkowski couldn't even get it that far shows that the Senate Republican caucus is not as strong or as obstructive as it has appeared, especially when it comes to the environment.
Special thanks go to British Petroleum for this victory. For its support for climate change legislation? No, for reminding Americans just how important saving the environment is by ruining a big chunk of it!
Sarcasm, there.
