Everyone is scurrying to craft a cease-fire in the Middle East, and even though Israel has been the target of Hamas rocket firings, which caused them to retaliate, Israel is actually getting the brunt of the blame for the escalation of the crisis. Even though I believe Israel has the right to defend itself, I think the complaints against the Jewish state are not entirely without merit. Their reaction against the Palestinians in Gaza has been comparable to trying to kill a mosquito with an AK-47.
The United States - still under the inspired leadership of George Walker Bush - is the only country supporting Israel's heavy-handed reaction. Seems that Bush, who came in with a unilateral foreign policy, is going out with that unilateralism intact.
