It's finally Election Day. It's been a long campaign, and whoever wins, I'm just glad it's over. If it had gone on for one more week, I would have likely gone insane.
Among the things that surprised me in this campaign was how seriously Sarah Palin has been taken, how strongly Obama has been overall, and how McCain seems to have surged toward the end. One thing that appalled me, though, was how McCain was able to get away from the insensitive comments he made about abortion (he doubted that some pregnant women get abortions for "health" reasons) in the third debate, and the biggest story to come out of that debate was Joe the Plumber, who isn't a licensed plumber and wasn't prepared to buy a business yet became a poster boy for entrepreneurship.
Well, the votes are bring counted, and it's almost over. Meanwhile, I'll be celebrating - or maybe just marking - my forty-third birthday tomorrow. Happy birthday to me . . .
