Now that I think about it, I do have some other comments, not necessarily satirical ones, about the Beijing Olympics - namely, NBC's television coverage. Overall, it was pretty straightforward, with plenty of athletic coverage and not so many profiles - and those profiles never involved any sob stories. No stories about athletes overcoming cancer, a near-death experience, or the trauma of a pet rabbit named Fufu that got run over by a Buick. I did miss some of the coverage of lesser sports that had made on prime time in previous Olympiads - wrestling, equestrian events - that was somewhat cast aside in favor of swimming or track and field. And there was way too much beach volleyball. Plus, the decathalon (won by American Bryan Clay) was so sparsely covered, it looked like a biathalon.
I'd give NBC a decent grade for their Olympic coverage, but it could have been better.
