Shut Up, Chris Matthews!

Chris Matthews may be a major voice in politics, but he is now a major force in it as well - to the detriment of all involved. After Hillary Clinton's win in the New Hampshire primary, Matthews suggested that the only reason Mrs. Clinton was because "her husband messed around," insinuating that women voted for her more out of feminine sympathy than on the issues. Matthews - who has a history of making reckless comments about female politicians - was immediately savaged by various women's interest groups, and he apologized publicly earlier this week.

Someone should tell Matthews to shut up and stick to asking tough questions on the issues. His obsession with the gender gap demonstrates that he's not as focused on the real issues as he has been in the past, because he's too busy being Chris Matthews. And he's done a huge favor for Hillary by allowing the Clinton campaign to drown out the candidate's critics with cries of "SEXISM!" over her detractors' cries of "DYNASTIC ENTITLEMENT!"
