Lots Of Election News

Election news, from here and abroad:
Barack Obama won big in yesterday's Iowa Democratic caucuses, and apparently someone failed to tell Hillary Clinton. Though the dauphine of the the Democratic Party came in third in her bid to claim her dynastic entitlement to the executive palace - er, mansion - she gave a speech that sounded more like a victory claim than a concession. Someone tell Cleopatra that denial ain't just a river in Egypt!
Listening to Hillary on the radio, not knowing who won, I got the impression that she edged out Obama. In fact, John Edwards edged her out for second place.
Chris Dodd is out, and Joseph Biden will likely exit too.
As expected, Mike Huckabee won the Iowa Republican caucus. His plea for compassion and unity makes him a novelty among Republican candidates - a Christian conservative who's really both. How is this possible??
On the other side of the world, people in Kenya are rioting over a possibly rigged presidential election. Most Africa experts are worried about one of the continent's most stable democracies falling into turmoil, but the fact that Kenyans are demonstrating for fair play and honest elections only show how strong democracy there is. They give a twit!
Meanwhile, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has postponed parliamentary elections there, originally set for next Tuesday, following - and due to - the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. He didn't think such elections could be safely and fairly held so soon. No kidding, Keystone Kopper!
Musharraf wants to build a modern Islamic democracy as Kamal Ataturk did in Turkey. Musharraf is kind of Ataturkesque, without the Ataturk part.
