George W. Bush vetoed a children's health insurance bill because he believed it would lead to federally funded health care and socialized medicine. I agree with his prediction, but isn't that actually a good thing?
What's not good is that Bush vetoed a bill that would have given more children medical coverage for $35 billion over five years because it's too costly, yet he has no qualms about throwing away $190 billion a year on a needless war in Iraq. Even Republican senators like Utah's Orrin Hatch and Iowa's Charles Grassley supported this health care bill, and they're as mad as hell with the White House.
Hopefully this veto will be overridden.
