D.C. Comics

Alberto Gonzales resigned as Attorney General. Good riddance. Except that the Justice Department is so understaffed these days, Solicitor General Paul Clement - who's fourth in line in the chain of command - will become acting Attorney General should Bush fail to name a new Attorney General before Gonzales leaves on September 17. And if there's one thing Bush never fails to do, it's fail; it's the easiest thing for him to do. (Apologies to rock star and loyal Democrat Stephen Stills, whose lyric I just paraphrased.)
Meanwhile, Idaho senator Larry Craig settled charges stemming from an arrest at Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport back in June. The NRA board member, if I understand correctly, had exhibited some kind of lewd behavior. Maybe he was playing with his pistol - I ain't talkin' 'bout no .38! :-O
