Acting Out

When newspapers started reporting about American plans for military strikes against Iran - now having claimed to have enriched uranium for nuclear power and possibly an atomic bomb - the White House quickly downplayed and dismissed the rumors. George W. Bush took it upon himself to personally assure people that he had read these news reports themselves and found them to be entirely speculative. I thought that was astonishing. I mean, Bush reads the papers?
Meanwhile, Representative Cynthia McKinney, the left-wing black congresswoman from Atlanta, apologized for claiming racism after a Capitol security officer failed to recognize her and tried to get her to show some ID. Apparently he failed to notice her Member of Congress pin, but that didn't stop McKinney from taking an honest mistake and blowing it entirely out of proportion. Claiming racism is nothing new for McKinney - whom Michael Moore has called America's best House member :-O - who never met a white man she didn't hold in suspicion. Any time Denise Majette (also black), who gave up the congressional seat now held by McKinney for a failed U.S. Senate bid, wants to try and get her seat back, it's fine by me.
