Mistakes and Skates

The Winter Olympics are indeed underway, and there's already controversy surrounding drug use. American skeleton sledder Zach Lund has been expelled from the Games for taking a drug used to hide steroid use.
He was using it to grow hair on his very obvious bald spot. :-O
Though the International Olympic Committee is aware that Lund didn't mean to violate any rules, they apparently wished to be consistent on the matter, so Lund is out. I guess that's the price we Yanks pay for being so vain. We probably think the Games are about us - don't we? ;-)
One U.S. hope for a medal in sledding is luge sledder Tony Benshoof, a Minnesotan who is prominently featured on both the team and Home Depot commercials - he works for the home improvement monolith. He may work for peanuts, but at least he gets time off to compete in the Olympics!
And for Michelle Kwan - always the bridesmaid at Olympic medal ceremonies, never the bride - her dream of Olympic gold may already be over due to a groin injury. She's been called the Albert Gore of figure skating due to her attempts at the gold medal that always fall short, but Gore actually tried for the presidency fewer times. :-(
