Ice Dancing Triumph (And Other Winter Olympics News)

It happened! Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto won the silver medal in ice dancing. In fact, they came tantalizingly close to pulling an upset over the leaders, Russia's Tatiana Navka and Roman Kostomarov, for the gold. This not only gives the U.S. their first Olympic ice dancing medal since 1976, when Colleen O'Connor and Jim Millins won the bronze, it was only the second U.S. medal in ice dancing ever!
Other news. . . The American women won the bronze in ice hockey. (Canada and Sweden respectively won gold and silver.)
In giant slalom skiing . . . Miller. Rahlves. Who cares? :-O
The giant slalom was won by Austrian Benjamin Raich, with the silver going to Joel Chernal of France. The bronze went to . . . Hermann Maier. The Herminator. He's back! :-D
Austria also managed a one-three finish in the women's giant slalom, with Michaela Dorfmeister winning the gold, and Alexandra Meissnitzer winning the bronze. The silver went to some Croatian chick you may have heard of, Janica Kostelic. ;-)
