Miscellaneous TV News

It's official: NBC is cancelling "The West Wing" after seven seasons. The show's future was sealed when the Peacock Network moved it to Sunday nights at 8 PM (7 PM Central, of course!) opposite CBS's red-hot "Cold Case," which followed "60 Minutes." Thus, "The West Wing" had no chance of holding its audience despite its improved writing and performances. However, the show's fictional election to succeed President Jeb Bartlet will be resolved, either on or before the series finale on May 14.
However, NBC is renewing "The Office" for a full season - next season! :-) This season will end early to allow star Steve Carell to make a new movie. But at least its future is well secured for the time being.
Also, CBS premieres its new Jenna Elfman sitcom "Courting Alex," and no, I haven't read any reviews. But it's debuting in the time slot (9:30 PM ET) previously held by "Out of Practice," which is probably out of time by now. Meanwhile, I've seen Tom Cavanagh's comedy-drama "Love Monkey" - not as good as "Ed," but good enough. It looks like it will improve over time. Cavanagh plays a music industry scout who cares about the music - wow, what a concept! :-D
