Last month Philadelphia had a brief transit strike. Now it's New York's turn, and it looks like the strike affecting the Big Apple's subways and buses that could begin at 12:01 A.M. on Friday could be far longer. The transit workers' union and the Metropolitan Transit Authority are so far apart on a deal that there's little hope of negotiating a contract before the midnight Thursday deadline. Plus, the workers appear not only to be ready to strike, but some sources say they're looking forward to it!
They couldn't have picked a worse (or better, depending on your vantage point) time to walk out. Not only is it cold in the New York area, but Friday's forecast calls for snow and sleet changing into rain.
Walking in the rain. . . how romantic! :-O
