Hurricane Beryl is roaring through the Caribbean with frightening wind speeds of 130 mph. It has already been a Category 5 hurricane - the earliest Cat 5 in history - and it is setting its sights on the Yucatan Peninsula after having ravaged Jamaica.
Anyone who thought that the meteorological experts were exaggerating when they were talking about this Atlantic hurricane season being the worst since 2020 (which churned up over thirty storms in the middle of a pandemic) should shut the hell up and hunker down. It's going to be a long, protracted season and don't be surprised if we get a major hurricane hitting not just the East Coast but hitting the Northeast. Thanks to climate change, it's only going to be worse in 2025 and beyond.
Right now, people are trying to figure out how to save America from Donald Trump. But how are we going to save the planet from ourselves?
