Slow Train Coming

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, almost a stone's throw away from Russia's short border with North Korea, in which Putin promised Kim food and fuel for the North Korean people in exchange for North Korean arms for Russian soldiers in the war in Ukraine. 

This is a very worrisome development, and I have to admit that this will perpetuate instability in the world for the foreseeable future.  However, I have tried to find a silver lining to the Kim-Putin summit.

I did.  Kim traveled by train across the Tumen River, which separates the two countries.  He takes an armored train to avoid a rogue North Korean air force pilot taking out his plane.  The train moved painfully slowly to get to Kim's destination at Vladivostok.

So there you have it - at least once country has a train that's slower and less reliable than any train run by Amtrak! 😄
