After posting here for nine straight days beginning last Wednesday (September 21), I realized that I was beginning to post once a day again, though I'd vowed to cut down, an so I was going to take the day off from this blog today.
Then something that I must report happened to me.
I went on Facebook this morning like I always do, and after I logged in, I was on for less than two seconds before a message popped up on the screen and prevented me from doing anything. It was this:
I'd been getting messages from Facebook for a month about some content they removed back in late August because it was flagged as spam. I think it was a GIF I'd posted one time too many as a humorous reply to different people's funny posts. I say I think it was that because wouldn't show me the offending content. But at least I could acknowledge those messages and move on. This time, I couldn't remove today's message. If you look carefully at the picture, there's a little X in the upper-right-hand corner of the message. Well, when I clicked on it . . . nothing happened. I clicked repeatedly on it but id didn't go away. And every time I try to go to my own timeline or a group. this same message blocks me and I can't remove it. And I still have no idea what the offending content was.
I can still share items from other Web sites that allow sharing on Facebook, and I Was able to access Messenger t keep in touch with my friends. But can I update my groups? React to other people's posts? Post pictures and memes on my timeline to my heart's content? No. Not with this unremovable message obstructing me. And until I can get this resolved - don't hold your breath - I can't use Facebook like I've been doing for the past fifteen years.
Since this comes on the heels of being run off the platform formerly known as Twitter, this is extremely frustrating. It's also devastating; I've been using Facebook more than any other social media platform, and it's where most of my friend hang out. But, with only Messenger and item-sharing at my disposal for as long as it takes to fix this glitch, I'm going to have to spend considerably less time on social media. I'm going to have to learn to live we all did before social media was invented. I'm going to have to seek out people in real life.
And join a bowling league.
