COVID Ci, COVID Ça

Oh, wonderful.

New strains of COVID are popping up just in time for winter - subvariants of Omicron calle BQ.1 and XBB - that can evade prior immunity and vaccination.  Anthony Fauci (below), who is stepping down as  director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases soon, just said that the pandmeic "certainly isn't" over.

When will it be over?  There certainly isn't an answer.

What am I looking forward to doing in the near and far future?  That's a question I can easily answer - absolutely nothing.  And going into New York City, near where I live, certainly isn't on the agenda any time soon thanks to increasing crime in the city and a truncated schedule for my local bus line that's based on the idea that they roll up the sidewalks at night in the Big Apple (the last bus for home leaves at 8:30 P.M.).

Unless we can wrap ourselves in bubble wrap, the only thing we can look forward to in 2023 is getting COVID again.
