As any of you who's seen my Facebook page recently can gather, my electricity did not go out as a result of the snowstorm the Weather Channel insisted on calling Nemo. It was, for the New York area at least , a classic winter snowfall that was more of a nuisance than anything else. For New England, though, it was a disaster, and I hope Connecticut governor Dannel Malloy in particular runs for President someday, because he's ready to take on the big job in this country after guiding the Nutmeg State through as many natural disasters as he's done in the past two years and change.
It won't be long, though, I fear, before New York and New Jersey are again hit as hard as they were by Hurricane Sandy and as southern New England was by this more recent nor'easter. Storms of such nature have been called "historic," but climate change means that the weather is going to make a lot more history in the very near future. After a freak October snowstorm in 2011 and Hurricane Sandy coming one year to the day later, I know we're going to get something very, very bad at the end of October 2013 where I live. In fact, where I live, Halloween might just as well be done away with. We have scarier things to worry about.
Back later tonight with my Sunday record review.
