I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day weekend., I actually went to a picnic in Glen Ridge, a town near where I live. My only connection to Glen Ridge is that my uncle lives there, but I actually met, of all people, my accountant, who was serving food as a member of the local Kiwanis club. He knows another friend of mine who was also volunteering with Kiwanis to make the picnic a success, albeit a small one.
Glen Ridge isn't that big.
It was a day full of tasteful ceremonies to honor those who fought and died for out freedoms. It's too bad that Congress still can't see fit to return to celebrating the day on May 30 every year, not just when it's the last Monday of the month. (The next time that happens is 2016.) Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI), a World War II veteran and the Senate's most senior member, has advocated doing so, but with little luck.
Back later.
