Prima Donna Beck

For some time to come - even though I don't want to - I'm probably going to have to refer to Glenn Beck, the Fox News personality who may be the worst thing to happen to America since Fox News itself. I will not, however, be referring to him as a talk show host, or even as a political commentator. No, I will be referring to him as a noted schizophrenic, egocentric, paranoiac prima donna.
This is in honor of the memory of John Lennon, who, in his 1971 song "Gimme Some Truth," decried the practice of "watching scenes with schizophrenic, egocentric, paranoiac prima donnas."
And who better to personify that guise than Glenn Beck, whose populist rhetoric and militant reactionarism contradict each other, who is thoroughly in love with himself, and who puts on a frightening show explaining why so many people are against him?
A lot of people love Glenn Beck, but there are also a lot of people who can't stand him, including me, so yes, even paranoiacs have enemies.
All I want is the truth . . .
