Pearls Before Swine

Am I worried about the swine flu outbreak currently developing? Not really. Every time the media report on some ghastly disease - avian flu, SARS - it ends up being nothing. Let's put something into perspective - forty confirmed cases in the United States, a nation of over 300 million people. I think we have a better chance of slipping in the bathtub than catching this disease.
I'm sure designated Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will get right to business in dealing with it, if she's ever confirmed. Senate Republicans are trying to block the nomination because of a campaign donation she got from an abortionist.
It's typical of Republicans to show more concern for those who haven't been born yet than for those already born, who may catch a rare disease and have no health insurance. (Okay, maybe I'm a little worried. But at least swine flu, unlike Republicanism, can be cured.)
