Bernard Made Off

Bernard Madoff.
Made off with what?
Millions.
Now that I have that awful pun out of the way, I celebrate the conviction of the disgraced investor, who involved his clients in a Ponzi scheme that was supposed to produce big returns for everyone and only produced big returns for Madoff. His indictment on eleven counts of fraud, theft and perjury should get him 150 years in prison. Hopefully, this will be the end of an era, an era of unregulated greed in the finance sector.
A lot of little people lost money with Madoff, and so did many celebrity clients. Among the famous people who lost money in Madoff’s scheme are New Jersey's U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, Mets owner Fred Wilpon, baseball legend Sandy Koufax, actor John Malkovich, talk show host Larry King, actress Kyra Sedgwick, and her husband, actor . . . Kevin Bacon.
Bar trivia has gotten more interesting.

But the most despicable of all was victim Elie Weisel. Madoff emptied his charity's coffers and ruined it.
After all that poor man has seen in life, he did not deserve this and called Bernard "evil". When someone like Elie calls you evil, the word seems all the more powerful.

Here was, I believe, his statement:
"He should be put in a solitary cell with a screen, and on a screen, for at least five years of his life, [would be] pictures of his victims"

Very true.
