Farewell

With the month of January winding down, I'd like to get in a quick comment or two about a couple of famous people who died recently. . . .

Ricardo Montalban was 88 years old when he died a couple of weeks ago. Although he will always be remembered as Mr. Roarke from the TV series "Fantasy Island," He also played several characters in various movies, mostly Latin lover types, but always with flair and dignity. He will be missed.

The same goes for Andrew Wyeth, who died recently at 91. His stark, understated paintings of his beloved Brandywine Valley in Pennsylvania brought a good deal of poetry to the landscapes he depicted, and his work will always be sentimental favorites of mine.
