Catching Up On the News

Let me catch up on the news here. . . .
The Colombian rescue of Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt and three American hostages from the leftist revolutionaries who have been fighting the government for 44 years (and you thought Afghanistan has had it bad!) was astonishing. The government of Colombia got a group of commandos pretending to be revolutionaries and aid workers to get the hostages in their care, then they arrested some of the perpetrators. If only Desert One in Iran had gone so smoothly in 1980.
Rush Limbaugh, despite the growing realization that his political ideology is a farce, has signed a new lucrative deal to keep his talk radio show going until 2018, having already been on the air nationally for twenty years.
Oh well, freedom of speech! Happy Fourth, all.
