Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts had a seizure over the weekend, and we have all learned today that it was because he has a malignant brain tumor. I wish the Senator a speedy recovery, and that he will fight this illness as much and as well as he has campaigned for the rights of the middle class and the poor.
Many commentators have looked back on Kennedy's endorsement of Barack Obama for President and have suggested that he passed the torch to the next generation of the leaders of Democratic liberalism. Rather poignant, I thought.
Don't count Ted Kennedy out just yet, though.
