I just read that India's Tata Motors purchased British car brands Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford this week. That's got to hurt.
It seems ironic that a car company from India - once the crown jewel of the British Empire - would own two quintessential British car marques. The colonized has turned the tables on the colonizer.
Meanwhile, the Rover Group (of which Land Rover was a part but no more - Tata bought it from Ford as well!) is in the hands of the Chinese, who make everything else for the West these days. And the Germans - whom the Brits held back in the Second World War - own Rolls-Royce (BMW) and Bentley (Volkswagen).
See, Detroit could be worse off. The worst they have is a corrupt mayor who lies about sex.
