The Summer of Love was a two-month long acid trip collectively taken in 1967 by privileged white kids camping out in the streets of San Francisco, singing about peace and love, and dodging the draft while inner-city black youths in Newark and Detroit lucky enough not to be sent to Vietnam but deprived of a better education and decent job opportunities rioted ferociously after trigger-happy white cops pushed them one time too many.
