The Dow Jones average keeps setting new records every day. Today it close at 13,244 points, if I'm not mistaken. Investors are really excited about the economy. Let's forget that the job market is so bad, there's competition for jobs at Wal-Mart.
By the way, it was a year ago today that I got downsized from the business services company I worked for. In the past twelve months, I got downsized from two permanent jobs and I've had about three temporary jobs, a couple of which had longer lifespans than the permanent ones.
And yet investors are irrationally exuberant about the market.
Where's Alan Greenspan when you need him?
Another interesting statistic: The top one percent of the American population control 22 percent of the country's wealth - their largest share since 1928.
Guess what happened to the stock market in 1929. :-O
