My hard drive is finally repaired, and after several hours and several moments of utter frustration, I'm pretty much back online. All I need to do is reinstall one more application and restore my home page. But for now, I'm pretty much back, and computer is fine - it's running a little better, in fact - and I'm once again ready to blog with impunity.
Meanwhile, I'm bummed to hear about the death of Denny Doherty of the Mamas and the Papas, who had a great, soaring voice and put a stamp on that quartet's records almost as distinctive as that of John Phillips, the quartet's songwriting and arranging mastermind. With Doherty's death, Michelle Phillips (who was never a match for Cass Eliot's charisma) is now the last survivor of the group.
Denny Doherty was 66. He will be missed. :-(
