French Socialist Segolene Royal became the first woman to be nominated to run for President of France by a major party, with the election taking place next year.
So, let me get this straight. . . The French beat us to nominating a female major-party presidential candidate? The French?? France, the country that didn't give women the vote until 1944? The country that recently had to establish what we would call an affirmative action program to produce female candidates for public office? They could have a female president before we do? This is embarrassing. We should definitely nominate a woman to run for President of the United States on a major-party ticket in 2008.
But not Hillary! Not Hillary!!
