The British government recently reported that not only is global warming a reality, it would cost more economically over the long run to do the nothing about it than to do something. Accordingly, we got to watch George W. Bush be unmoved. Bush had taken the United States out of the Kyoto Protocol, which was intended to reduce the greenhouse gases causing global warming to 1990 levels by 2012, for economic reasons, but even this news isn't likely to change his mind about it, given that his big business cronies would still have to sacrifice short-term economic gains to consider the long term. Fortunately, Bush's own term in office is growing shorter. :-p
