You have to feel sorry for Pope Benedict XVI. Even as his own church is fair game for criticism, he refers to a quote from over six hundred years ago about the violent tendencies of radical Islam to make a point against religious extremism and the whole Muslim world blows up. Benedict in fact expressed deep regret for his remarks, but the point he was trying to make got lost in the whole controversy. He was saying that all religious extremism is bad. And yet, Muslims who thought the Pope was saying their religion was violent, got . . . violent. Right - makes all the sense in he world. I can understand people who see George W. Bush as a bigger threat to peace than radical Islam. But the Pope? Pope Benedict, a troublemaker? Please.
