I got Paloma Herrera's autograph!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, here's the story. Today I went to the American Ballet Theatre's matinee performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center in New York in which Paloma Herrera danced the role of Juliet. It was a very moving performance, with Ms. Herrera a commanding presence and in top form all around. Afterwards, I made my way to the stage door - no small accomplishment, given the complex's confusing layout - and found several men and women, many with young girls in tow, getting autographs from the cast members as they left. And finally, Paloma Herrera - herself! - appeared like a dream, with people crowding around her like the star she is. I stood and waited until she was right in front of me, and I meekly offered my program for her to sign, which she did. I was on a cloud. I still haven't come down to earth. :-D
There's a longer essay in this story. . . . and now I'm going to write it. :-)
