All right, then, here are some more details on my new profile piece. I have to be quick, though, because I want to get back to it . . .
The woman I'm writing about is an aspiring dancer and an enterprising young woman named Therisa Barber, and she's easily one of the sweetest women I've ever met, not just in my travels and travails as a writer, but possibly in my whole life. She's a very ebullient performer, and listening to her talk about her street performing character was as entertaining as watching her perform in character. She's both a lovely person and a lovely woman. You can catch Ms. Barber near the Waldo Hutchins bench near East 72nd Street and Fifth Avenue in New York's Central Park. And if my profile article makes it into publication, you just might be seeing her dance in a more expensive venue. ;-)
However, as much as I enjoy meeting and writing about interesting Englishwomen like Ms. Barber and Ms. Barratt - along with the interesting American women I've written about - my new profile article may still be my last. As noted, I haven't been very successful in getting most of these articles published yet, and as excited as I am about this new venture, I might not be any more successful in getting someone to run with it. So I figure that if this may be my last roll of the dice, it had best be a damn good one. I am hellbent on making sure this article on Ms. Barber is the best profile article I've ever written. I owe it to her. I owe it to myself. :-)
