Coulter Up, Rather Out

Okay, let me catch up on the news. . . .
Ann Coulter caused a ripple - no, a tidal wave - by accusing the September 11 widows from New Jersey who pushed for the 9/11 commission of taking enjoyment out of their widowhood and suggesting that they felt liberated by the deaths of their husbands. Coulter accused them of "politicizing" the tragedy because one of them voted against Bush in 2004. She seems to forget that Bush politicized at by attacking the Democrats on security matters, and that the 9/11 widow who voted against Bush did so because she'd lost faith in his ability to keep the country safe from terrorists. American book buyers, alas, seem to forget that Coulter is an unprincipled, bigoted flamethrower, as her latest book - which included those comments - got to the top of the New York Times bestseller list. :-O
Also, Dan Rather's 44-year affiliation with CBS has come to an end. Ever since his story on Bush's National Guard service on "60 Minutes II," which used documents of questionable authenticity, CBS has done everything to dissociate themselves from the newsman. First he lost the anchor's chair. Then, when "60 Minutes II" got canceled, Rather ostensibly rejoined the staff of the original "60 Minutes" but filed few reports. CBS pretty much kept in the attic like a crazy uncle, now they've evicted him. His contract was not renewed. Even John Roberts - once his designated successor, now at CNN - got better treatment from CBS than this!
