A remake of the 1972 disaster movie The Poseidon Adventure is set for release in a few weeks. The fact that the motion picture industry believe people want to see a nautical disaster flick less than a decade after Titanic, with the memories of tragedies like 9/11 and Katrina still fresh in people's minds, constitutes prima facie evidence that Hollywood executives are smoking something weird.
