Salon Sojourn

I attended a salon - a posh word for a theater lecture - today in New York, given by dancer Sachiyo Ito, whose dance company I've been doing volunteer work for. She gave a very interesting presentation about the history of Kabuki and Noh in Japan, and she demonstrated a traditional Japanese theater dance in which she danced a full piece to show the various elements of symbolism involved in the art. She danced every role - all eighteen of 'em! And she was graceful and poetic in all of them. :-)
Next month she and her troupe give a free performance at Lincoln Center. I hope to go, and, more importantly, I hope to help get it set up.
