Misplaced News Priorities

While Congress drops everything to discuss the fate of Terry Schiavo - without, as Jon Stewart noted, stopping to consider the plight of 44 million Americans (like me) without health insurance - media attention not focused on the Schiavo story is closely eyeing the Michael Jackson case. Now would be a perfect time for al-Qaeda to attack again - when no one is paying attention! (On September 10, 2001, Americans were focused like a laser beam on the Gary Condit scandal.)
Meanwhile, a lot of folks can't understand the muredrous rampage of Brian Nichols in Atlanta even as other people try to contemplate the latest school shooting in Red Lake, Minnesota. With violence like this in America, who needs to worry about terrorism? :-O
