A Never-Ending Eighties Nightmare

Lord God, NO!
Madonna, the driving force behind popular music's twenty-year descent into a bottomless pit, is touring again, this time offering a set list of newly reworked versions of her hits. And just when you thought it was safe to consider her a hasbeen, her two New York dates sold out so quickly that she added four more NYC dates that sold out the same day the tickets went on sale. And a seventh show in nearby East Rutherford, New Jersey, was added as well.
The spectacularly insufferable Liz Smith was gushing how, in spite of all of Madonna's recent failures, you can "just put out the word that she'll appear onstage, and it's 1984 all over again. She's still the queen." HAR HAR HAR! Yes, it does feel like 1984, with the Orwellian belief that Madonna is a woman of undeniable talent flying in face of the facts. As for her royal title. . . I always considered her the Princess of Darkness, but, yes, maybe the Queen of Darkness is a more fitting title. Britney Spears can be the crown princess. :-p
