Remember that Seinfeld episode where Elaine's ex-boss, realizing that many folks only like to eat the tops of muffins, starts a successful bakery that sells just that? Well, guess what the bakery department in my local supermarket is selling. Just guess.
Great. Americans are so divorced from reality, they're taking ideas in sitcoms seriously and letting them define our culture. This wouldn't be too bad if they took an idea that was worth looking into, like a musical version of "Hamlet" from an old Gilligan's Island episode. But muffin tops? Geez, what do they do the rest of the muffins? Sell them as muffin bottoms? No such luck in my local store.
