Keystone Kook

If you're either a homosexual or a gay rights advocate, you might want to rethink any plans you have to go and see the Liberty Bell or hike in the Poconos this summer. Rick Santorum, the spectacularly horrible right-wing juvenile junior U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, recently compared homosexuality to polygamy, incest, and infidelity as being a mortal sin. Santorum, a staunch Catholic, is the leader of the Senate Republican Conference, the third most powerful position in the Senate GOP leadership. Democrats have called on him to resign his leadership post, and they've asked the White House to speak out against him. Hmmm, why not arrange for Santorum to have lunch with Vice President Cheney, whose daughter is a lesbian?
Santorum's bigoted remarks go beyond the pale; they are mean-spirited, hurtful, and unnecessarily divisive. And to think Barbra Streisand (she of the large gay following) has spent the last twenty years or so bashing Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania's senior U.S. Senator. Seems she's been picking on the wrong guy.
