If I hear Phil Donahue say even once that the Democrats need new faces to speak for the progressive cause after Tuesday's elections, than MSNBC should cancel his struggling show. (Michael Moore can always find a sympathetic talk show host somewhere who'll book him.) The simple reason for this is that Phil Donahue is not exactly a fresh face himself - he's been a talk show host since Lyndon Johnson was president, and the Philster looks like he's been around since Andrew Johnson was president. Given the fact that the Big Media are run mainly by moderate and conservative businessmen anyway, it's only a matter of time before MSNBC replaces Donahue with a political talk show host who has much more in common with Cal Thomas than with Marlo Thomas.
But at least Donahue will be free to be himself.
