Kamala Harris's Firsts

Among the firsts Kamala Harris represents when she becomes the nations' forty-ninth Vice President:

She will be the first female Vice President.

She will be the first Vice President of African and West Indian descent.

She will be the first Vice President of South Asian descent.

She will be the first female biracial Vice President.  (The first biracial Vice President was Charles Curtis, Herbert Hoover's Vice President, who was part white and part Native American.)

She will be the first elected officer of the executive branch involved in an interracial marriage.

She will be the first elected officer of the executive branch to have a Jewish spouse.

And, even though the PC crowd would find this last first (last first?) to be trivial, it actually isn't, considering how important it is for the Democrats to expand their base:

She will be the first Democratic elected officer of the executive branch to come from a Western state.

As Gary Hart - who's from Colorado - once said, the West represents the future.

Kamala Harris is the future.
