The Boston Bombings

Only cowards would bomb a running marathon, but that's apparently what happened in Boston today when two bombs exploded at the finish line after several of the participants had already crossed the finish line. The anticipation for this race before the explosions that occurred at around 2:45 this afternoon must have been palpable, given the cancellation of the 2012 New York marathon in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy and the desire on the part of the participants and the spectators enjoy the race. Of course, there's a distinct difference between a marathon canceled by a natural disaster and a marathon disrupted by an apparent terrorist attack. Whoever planted these bombs knew that many people would be in the vicinity and that causing injury and death would be very easy. At a time when people are still reeling over Aurora and Newtown and are increasingly frustrated by a government beholden to a callous weapons industry than to the interests in keeping people safe from harm, I don't people can take another act of violence in this country.
Not very articulate tonight. Sorry . . ..
