2020 Vision

So whom do I think will host the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in 2020?
Well, there are only three candidate cities for those Olympics - Istanbul, Madrid and Tokyo.  I really think Istanbul - the largest city in Turkey, located in the European part of this bicontinental nation - will get it, in part because Turkey is an Islamic-majority nation, and no such country has ever held the Games before.  Madrid is less likely to get it because the European debt crisis has hit Spain hard; the Spaniards likely can't afford it, as the crisis has lingered.  Tokyo? Not with the specter of Fukushima looming over Japan.  No, Istanbul will get it.  Its proximity to the Middle East makes it a very symbolic choice.  So, remember, you heard it here first.

Tokyo got it. I was wrong.
