It's over . We have to get out of Afghanistan.
The murders of innocent Afghan civilians have made it clear that we don't belong in that country anymore. While part of the reason is that we have destroyed a good deal of trust among the Afghan people - especially in light of the recent Koran burnings at a NATO base there - the fact that the soldier who committed these murders is likely a disturbed individual only serves to remind us how unstable and shell-shocked we as a nation have become over this war. We simply can't take this war anymore and we have to get out before we do more damage to ourselves and to others.
And that's pretty much all I have to say on Afghanistan . . . except to say that I was only kidding in the entry I posted Saturday, before these murders took place.
