The Five Percent Problem

The unemployment rate reached five percent in December, with anaylsts noting that only 18,000 jobs were created last month - nine percent of what is needed to keep up with population growth - suggesting a coming recession.

Ah, but as George W. Bush might point out, the 5% unemployment rate means that, for every person in this country out of work, there are nineteen Americans with jobs! :-p
