"Hands" Across America

All across America on Saturday, April 5, Americans opposed to Trump held marches, demonstrations and protests against the regime of La Grand Homme de Visage Orange.  In addition to marches in major cities like this one shown below, similar protests were staged in numerous minor-league cities and small towns.

Yours truly participated in one of them, and it happened to be in my hometown!  My hometown, where Sam Alito lived when he was a federal judge in Newark.  And elsewhere in Essex County,. New Jersey, Cory Booker, fresh from his marathon speech in the Senate, showed up at a protest at a county park between Montclair and Bloomfield.

Alas, I don't know if this is going to matter much to Trump or any of his sycophants.  Trump's reaction to people bashing his policies is indifference, and he actually said it in private.  Call him Rhett Trump - "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."  (Though he used a more vulgar four-letter word that Clark Gable, classy actor and gentleman that he was, would likely never have used.)  The truth of the matter is that Trump wouldn't pulling all of this stuff if he didn't think he could get away with it.  And the awful reality is . . . he can. And very well might.

Something is happening, though, but like Dylan's Mr. Jones (Clark Gable and Bob Dylan referred to in the same post?  Only here, folks!), I don't know what it is.  But I have a feeling that, like April 1865, in which we lost a President who won a war, and April 1945, in which the exact same thing happened, I have a feeling that this April will end very differently than how it began.
